“…this exhibit is among the best we’ve ever had the privilege of hosting.” ~ Mountain Light Gallery

Carr Clifton’s opening reception for his Sacred Headwaters Exhibit was a huge success! Featuring thirty-two fine art prints from the Sacred Headwaters and custom printed personally by Carr, the show will be displayed at Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop, California through March 15. A big thank you to the Mountain Light crew for their artistic eye and incredible hospitality – this show should not be missed.

As principle photographer for the newly released book, The Sacred Headwaters, The Fight to Save the Stikine, Nass and Skeena Rivers, Carr’s images from this beautifully written and illustrated book are the focus of the exhibit, with all proceeds from the sale of the book used to protect the Sacred Headwaters.

Masterfully crafted, Carr’s prints speak for themselves. Every step of the printing process is personally performed by Carr, from image optimization to print output, with hours spent on each print to achieve the best possible results. Carr’s expertly printed fine art prints are available in a full range of sizes and can be customized to meet your specifications.

The newly released, Oceans, Heart Of Our Blue Planet is the 19th volume in the Cemex Conservation book series. Beautifully illustrated with images from International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP), including several images from Carr Clifton, Oceans looks at the many ways life on Earth depends on a healthy ocean and the threats facing its integrity. Written by influential marine scientists, this important work conveys how our survival is directly linked to the ocean and offers innovative and creative solutions to those threats.

Silently in the cool, coastal waters of Alaska, an ominous consequence of global climate change threatens one of the world’s most precious and richest ecosystems. Ocean acidification, the result of increased ocean pH levels due to the absorption of high levels of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, prevents calcifying marine organisms from producing their calcareous skeletal structures. Threatening and potentially destroying populations of cold-water corals, sea urchins, mollusks and coralline algae, the disappearance of these important food chain species could result in whole species extinction with widespread effects on fisheries and other wildlife.

Because carbon dioxide is absorbed more readily in the cold waters of northern latitudes, Alaska is known as Ground Zero for climate change, as ocean acidification occurs at an accelerated rate making it a barometer for marine ecosystems worldwide. The devastating impact on this immense, beautiful, and often ice-bound land and sea is immeasurable – Alaska’s communities and the world could face extremely debilitating changes in their environment, natural resources and economies.

Award-winning photographer Carr Clifton’s infatuation with the beauty and wildness of coastal Alaska began fifteen years ago from his 19 foot rigid inflatable boat. Traveling extensively through ice-choked fiords and extreme weather and seas, Carr captured this unique and endangered environment in a comprehensive and exceptional portfolio of images, giving voice to the ecological significance of this extraordinary ecosystem. A place of mountains and seas, glaciers and ice, forests and fiords – where the land meets the sea, these images offer a glimpse into a remarkable world of unparalleled beauty and wildness.
